Nintendo’s eShop Struggles Under Heavy Holiday Traffic, Nintendo issues Apology

For the last 24 hours the Nintendo eShop has been performing pretty poorly under the strain of heavy holiday traffic and tonight the service has went down altogether.

The outage, which comes on the heels of Nintendo’s Network ID roll out, renders users incapable of creating new NNIDs and making any purchases from the eShop from the Nintendo 3DS or the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo is currently remedying the issue and has released the below apology:

We apologize for the continued interruption of Nintendo eShop service and are working to resolve the situation. Thanks for your patience.
