Sony hires Fast Girls writer for Metal Gear Solid movie

Sony Pictures has hired Jay Basu to write the screenplay for a movie adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, Deadline reports.

The Kings of Summer's Jordan Vogt-Roberts is also reported to have been signed up to direct, with Marvel creative chief Avi Arad on board to produce.

Metal Gear Solid, however, will likely be one of Basu's biggest projects yet, with his previous credits including 2012 sports drama Fast Girls and last year's Monsters: Dark Continent.

A release date for the movie has yet to be confirmed.
