Bungie says it was “liberating” to move on from Halo

Bungie has found it “liberating” to have moved on from Halo and to Destiny, as it was important for the company to spread its creative wings.

Speaking with USA Today, community manager David “Deej” Dague said while it was important for Bungie to try something new, it won’t soon forget the accomplishments it earned “from the Halo era.”

“We’ll never turn a blind eye to the accomplishments that come with Halo at Bungie,” said Dague. “But as creators, as artists, as people with imaginations for how games can be new and different, and exciting, it was pretty liberating, actually, to start with a blank canvas and say, ‘What sort of story do we want to tell now?’”

The move away from the Halo franchise was fully supported by many at the studio, especially for those who “had kept their imaginations rooted” in the IP, he added.

Bungie was released earlier in the week.
