S&S News: Sony would like to stream PlayStation games to PC, TVs, tablets & more, states Yoshida

SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has explained that using the power of Gaikai streaming, he would like to see PlayStation games brought to all devices, be it PC, Blu-Ray players, mobiles and tablets.
Sony has already confirmed that Gaikai streaming will be coming to the US in 2014, and they will be looking to stream not only to the PS4, but over multiple platforms.   Just look at the PS Vita TV.

Speaking with Dengeki Online, Yoshida discussed his own aspirations for the service, and stressed that he’d like to see it go multi-format. He said, “Speaking of the ultimate goal, we would like to deliver PlayStation games to all devices. So we’re considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony’s. This is still being studied.

“We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device — Of course PlayStation will still be the center, but I think we would like to expand to different things.”

Okay, I support this, and here's why. Sony already showed us a million great blockbuster games and indie games in the works and releasing soon. Now, they can switch their focus to the functionality of the system. It's like they've "earned" their right to take the focus away from gaming for a moment. That's what separates Sony & Microsuck.
