S&S News: Marvel Heroes Release Date and Information

Today, during PAX East, Gazillion Games showed off some impressive footage and information about Marvel Heroes at their panel.

"Action on a massive scale," that's how Community Director of Gazillion Games Stephen Reid described Marvel Heroes. Marvel Heroes (for those who don't know) is a new MMOARPG from Gazillion games. The game has a Diablo style feel to it, seeing how it was headed by Diablo II creator David Brevik.

The game will launch with 22 characters right off the bat. Characters like Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Captain America. For those who are hardcore Marvel fans, they announced that Rocket Raccoon will be available to play. Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play game while at the same time being a pay-to-play game (not a pay-to-win game). What does this mean? A player can play the game "all for free" or, pay for character skins, and packs.

The game itself will feature an isometric view, much like that of World of Warcraft and Diablo. It is a MMO with RPG elements scattered throughout the game. As players walk through the massive world, they'll realize that when you try to backtrack, the world will look totally different. That's because the whole world is randomized, and once you pass by something, it'll transfer to a different place. "It's like putting random legos pieces together," said David Brevik. Players can find new characters, and suits as loot dropped from the enemies you kill. David Brevik also stated that the loot you see on your screen will only be seen by you. This means you won't have to worry about other players swiping up your loot while you're killing enemies. Each hero will be looked at ad a common hero or a rare hero. The rare heroes, as stated by David Brevik, are your popular heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America. The studio also said they're implementing 3D models from past Marvel movies, comics, and shows. The game will have different armor suits for different characters. Iron Man will receive the most suits (as it sounded in the panel). He'll have his main Iron Man suit, Avengers Suit, Comic book suit, and even his Iron Man 3 suit.

Gazillion Games announced an impressive voice cast too. Below is a list of all the voice actors and which character they're voicing. (only ones announced)

Wolverine- Steve Blum
Hulk- Fred Tatasciore
Spider Man- Drake Bell
Cyclops- Steve Porter
Deadpool- Nolan North
Symbiote Spider Man- Christopher Barnes
Jean Grae- April Stewart
Doctor Doom- Lex Lang
Hawkeye- Chris Cox

One of the top 5 questions asked about the game was will there be Player vs. Player? David answered with a big "yes there will be." The PvP element of the game will be available to play at launch and will focus on account based factions. Gazillion Games quickly mentioned crafting but no details of it were shown. Another frequently asked question was will there e endgame content? The panelists said yes and explained that when a player is done with the game, he/she can go back and use his/her characters to gain ultimate power and fight some huge bosses.

Marvel Heroes looks and plays fantastic. From the game's smooth mechanics to its interesting visuals, Marvel Heroes looks primed to compete against all of the other major MMOs and RPGs. Be prepared for a wild and fun ride as Marvel Heroes launches May 28th for early access players and June 4th for all.
